Raytheon firması tarafından Amerikan Hava Kuvvetlerinin havadan atılan sahte hedef sistemi ihtiyacına yönelik olarak geliştirilen MALD-J (Miniature Air Launched Decoy-Jammer / Havadan Atılan Minyatür Sahte Hedef-Jammer)’ın teslimatları devam ediyor. Üretilen 1000inci MALD-J sistemi ABD Hava Kuvvetleri'ne teslim edildi.
MALD-J, atıldığı uçakların uçuş rotalarını ve radar kesitlerini taklit ederek hava savunma sistemlerinin gerçek hedeflere angaje olma ihtimallerini azaltan ve aktif hale gelen düşman hava savunma sistemlerinin yerlerinin tespit edilmesini sağlayan MALD platformu temel alınarak geliştirildi. Radarları karıştırabilme yeteneği ile MALD’dan ayrılan MALD-J’nin üretimine 2012 yılında başlandı.
MALD sistemi asgari 140 kg ağırlığında ve sahip olduğu jet motoru sayesinde 900 km menzile ulaşabiliyor. Sistem, B-52H uzun menzilli stratejik bombardıman uçağı ve F-16'lar tarafından kullanılıyor.
